Washington D.C. – The LGBT Equality Caucus Transgender Equality Task Force released the following statement in response to the Department of Defense decision to implement the transgender military ban by April 12, 2019. On Tuesday, the Pentagon officially signed the policy banning transgender Americans from serving in the United States military, despite overwhelming opposition. The policy would not only prohibit transgender people from joining the military, but also prohibit any transgender person in the military from living consistent with their gender identity.

Washington D.C. – The Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus today praised the historic introduction of the Equality Act of 2019. Two-hundred and thirty-nine Members of Congress proudly introduced this landmark bipartisan legislation which would provide clear, comprehensive anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ Americans in regard to employment, education, access to credit, jury service, federal funding, housing, and public accommodations. This historic legislation says, unequivocally, that LGBTQ Americans deserve the full protections guaranteed under our nation’s civil rights laws.
Washington D.C. – The Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus announced its membership list for the 116th Congress today. With eight openly LGBT Co-Chairs, eighteen Vice Chairs, and 159 total members, this is the largest LGBT Equality Caucus in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Washington, D.C. – Co-Chairs of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court decision to allow the transgender military ban to take effect. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision granted the Trump Administration’s request for the discriminatory ban to be implemented while legal challenges continue to move through the courts.
